Excursions - Wernigerode

Wernigerode is the colorful town of the Harz region The marvelous panorama of the Harz mountains is dominated by the famous Wernigerode Castle which rises high above the town. Visitors can stroll along the wide terrace of the castle and enjoy the wonderful panoramic view of Wernigerode and the Harz Mountains. When Goethe visited Wernigerode in 1777, the feeling of the town was essentially rural. All things considered were almost unheard of to spend the holidays in the Harz region at that time. And still today many visitors from Germany and abroad flock to the picturesque town.
